I've had emails from some people saying they have had an e-mail
telling them to delete a file (sulfnbk.exe) from their computer,
DON'T it is HOAX !!!
It might read
something like this below:
Sorry, folks, but have just heard from a friend that he'd received
a virus from the States which sent itself on via his address book
- without him knowing anything about it. Apparently it lies dormant
for a couple of weeks or so before disabling your hard drive.
ALSO, ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAMS CANNOT DETECT IT SO PLEASE ACT NOW.
The virus has forwarded itself to me and MAY have sent itself
on to all my addressees. I hope not, but the instructions for
eliminating it are straightforward, as follows:
1. go to "start" on your desktop - then "find or
search"
2. select "search for files folders" type in sulfnbk.exe
(this is the
virus) ...(etc.)
DON'T it is HOAX !!!

I've had emails pretending to be from Norton, saying there
is a virus in your computer, These are HOAX's. Norton Anti Virus
does not tell you this by e-mail !
Trash the e-mail and DELETE, it is HOAX
!!!
Norton users,
use your anti virus prog. and dont forget to use the Live Update,
( AT LEAST EVERY WEEK) You have been warned. It takes a bit of
time, but saves having to reload your whole computer!

The BADTRANS.B virus >
People have detected several instances of this virus over the
weekend 24/25th Nov. This suggests that some people may have the
virus on their machines and may not be aware of it.
W32.Badtrans.B@mm

The threat
level of this worm from level 3 to level 4 as of November 26,
2001.
W32.Badtrans.B@mm
is a MAPI worm that emails itself out using different file names.
It also creates the file \Windows\System\Kdll.dll. It uses functions
from this file to log keystrokes.
> The virus arrives in an attachment with a blank e-mail message.
The sender can be someone you know or a random address. If you
receive such a file, unless your virus scanner is up to date (Nov.
25th) your machine will probably be infected as you do not have
to open the attachment to become a victim.
I
have had emails from some of you, with virus's attached, I know
you probably never sent them, but in the past could have opened
a e-mail with a virus in it. This can makes copies of text in
other e-mail's you have and send them in your name! as well as
a lot of other nasty things.
A few people have/had them in Exmouth, so even if the text in
the e-mail is about something you know, play safe. Best to get
a Anti virus programme. Its well worth the money (some are even
free).
Also
if you e-mail, maybe please put : "no attachment" in
your header, - then one sees if there is something attached, so
people can delete it.
